A real masterclass about a director’s dilemmas, questions, doubts, and fears, the 5th episode ICAR presents Cristi Puiu in a moment of grace but also maximum sincerity, giving a masterly speech about the art of directing a film in his unique personal style.

“When you’re really an expert in something, your doubts are huge. You don’t know why things come out well, when they do”, says Cristi Puiu, the Romanian New Wave emblematic director and one of the few filmmakers who can make such a lucid statement.

The 5th episode ICAR, signed by Lucian Georgescu and Marius Roșu, presents the personality of the man behind the films that changed the recent history of Romanian cinema. The director of Stuff and Dough, The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, Aurora and Sieranevada speaks about what it means to open “the little door” of the magic lantern or to throw oneself in the “equilibristic” of a director’s work.
